Young Eco Engineers
This year we are taking part in the Young Eco Engineer Go Cart Project for the second year running. The IET Formula Goblin is an electric kit car, designed to give young people the opportunity to build and race their own car. We are fortunate enough to have a STEM Ambassador and local resident, Hilary Kilborn, who is working alongside the children and us with this project.
Our Young Eco Engineers have been building our Goblin Green kit car for 7 weeks now! They have already attached the steering column and the front wheels, and eventually assembled and attached the rear axle – it was a tricky job! This week they concentrated on connecting the brake to the discs on the rear driving wheel. Soon they will have the important job of assembling the seat and, learning about the motor and electrics. The group, alongside the rest of Year 6, will have the opportunity to design an eye-catching and imaginative body work for the kit car, ready for the race in June!
