Year 6 Mayans
The weather was kind to Year 6 for our outdoor day. We consolidated our learning of the Maya, creating Mayan milpas (villages) and thinking carefully about the irrigation system they used for farming. Our next activity involved clay, where we fashioned Mayan masks adding intricate details – these will be painted and displayed in class soon. As maize was a significant crop, we decided to make our own mazes using sticks and twigs. It was great fun trying to find our way to the Mayan god at the centre of the maze.
