Year 5 and 6 Maths Workshop

John, Ollie, Lily and Riley from years 5 and 6 took part in an Able Maths day at Ryarsh School this week, hosted by Mathematician (and Math-magician) Andrew Jeffrey. They were shown some incredible maths strategies and tricks to be even more efficient at calculations and Andrew explained that it's fine to admit that you don't know an answer, or make mistakes, as long as you can then try something different.

The children worked their way through a booklet of several games and puzzles that required place value knowledge, manipulation of numbers and clever addition tricks. It was an amazing day, and the children couldn't believe the time when the afternoon drew to a close; they even took their booklets home with them!
