National Coding Week 2023
Last week was National Coding Week and the whole school took part in a range of exciting activities to celebrate. It was a fantastic opportunity for our children to engage with coding and learn about Artificial Intelligence (AI). Each year group actively participated in coding activities that were designed to enhance their computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
Bear Cubs, Tiger Cubs and Lion Cubs had a wonderful experience learning to code with bee-bots. These small robotic toys allowed the children to explore the basics of programming, fostering their logical thinking and sequencing abilities.
In Year 2, the focus was on the environment and AI. The children were engaged in training AI on what should and should not be in the ocean. They also had an opportunity to design their own AI robots, showcasing their creativity and technological understanding. Furthermore, they utilized AI to create their own class story, which was an excellent way to combine literacy skills with coding.
Year 4 delved into a thrilling hour of code, during which they coded their very own dance party. By manipulating code blocks, the students developed their understanding of algorithms, patterns, and logical reasoning.
It was a fantastic opportunity for them to combine computer science with music and movement. What a great week it was!
