Learning outside the classroom - science in Y2
In science Year 2 have been looking at plants and what they require to help them grow. On a sunny afternoon we ventured up to the flower meadow to solidify their understanding of the process of “Germination”. Working as a class using laminated resources, they put pictures in the correct sequence from Seed to Seeding, noticing that the root developed first to anchor the plant and the shoot next, followed by small leaves which start to feed the developing seedling. Then the children planted their own sunflower seed, so they can watch how it develops over the next few months.
