Fairy Tale Writing Week
Once upon a time, not so long ago, a great excitement was bubbling at Kings Hill School. Everyone was very busy with their learning. Little children were eagerly listening to magical tales, medium-sized children were creating wonderful stories and the biggest children of all were creating the craziest and scariest of fractured fairy tales. Suddenly, a man appeared on the screen in their classrooms and the children were amazed to see that it was Ben Miller, author of The day I fell into a fairy tale. The little children thought he was funny. The medium-sized children asked lots of questions. And the biggest children of all eagerly took notes about how to write a fairy tale. The children had such a great time with Ben that they worked even harder at school and produced the most amazing writing – all about fairy tales!
When the head teacher saw all of the wonderful fairy tales, she was thrilled and could not stop smiling. That evening, when all of the children had gone home, she called for her deputy and together they did a celebratory dance all through the corridors of the school. Then the teachers joined in too. Before very long, there was a huge procession of staff – all equally as thrilled as the head teacher. Perhaps you heard their cheers as they danced through the school! What an exciting writing week was had by all.
And like all true fairy tales…
They all lived happily ever after.
Thank you to everyone who purchased a copy of Ben Miller’s book, The day I fell into a fairy tale. Over 130 copies have been ordered and will be sent home with the children shortly.
